3 Ways to Enjoy Persimmons

Written by Darling Dish | January 4, 2023

Persimmons season is one of the sweetest times of the year, and since it’ll be gone as fast as it came, we need to enjoy as much of this plump, glossy fruit as we can while it’s here! Check out some of our very favorite ways to eat persimmons!

Sliced Persimmons

Just cutting up a crisp Persimmon makes them the perfect ingredient to level up almost any recipe! For example, add a pop of color to any salad, yogurt, or oatmeal, or a honey-like flavor to your favorite tea, cocktail, or smoothie by adding fresh persimmon slices. This one-of-a-kind Kale Quinoa Citrus Salad is one of our favorite recipes that incorporates persimmon slices! Plus, these Persimmon Bruschetta and Persimmon Honey Goat Cheese Crostini recipes are the stars of any charcuterie board!

Baked Persimmons

Persimmons are a naturally sweet, candy-like fruit, making them the perfect complement to any baked dessert! This impressive Persimmon Tart recipe is a crowd-favorite and only requires 20 minutes of prep time. To prep this, a cookie crust is topped with cream cheese and sugar filling then layered with cinnamon sugar-dusted persimmon slices. Persimmons also make a delicious treat on their own when roasted with honey and cinnamon!

Snack on Persimmons

Like Darling Clementines®, Persimmons come ready to eat and make for a quick and delicious snack on the go! Pack them in your lunch for work or school, or bring them on a hike for a sweet energy boost.

Pro tip: Persimmons can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or stored in an open-air container away from direct sunlight for up to seven days!
